I love this. This is a 1915 map of Madison Park’s McGilvra Colony from the Seattle Municipal Archives. Madison Park has a long and fun history and so do Seattle houseboats so I thought this was a great map to combine the two. There are no Seattle houseboats on Lake Washington any more, but there was a time when they were all along the shores including Madison Park! According to the book Madison Park Remembered by Jane Powell Thomas, there were a series of wooden walkways along Lake Washington that led out to the houseboats beyond.
